Hurricane Irene
IRENE PROVIDES A Time for Science WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR SERVICE PROJECTS

A Time for Science Nature and Science Learning Center regrets that the Saturday Family Fun Day scheduled for September 10 is cancelled. However, the various astronomy events scheduled for later this month and next are anticipated to go on as scheduled. Hurricane Irene left so many downed trees that our facilities and trails need immediate attention. It is anticipated that tree clearing activities will be of primary importance at least throughout the month of September. Please check this website and watch for newsletter updates to determine the status of all events scheduled through October.
Though many may be involved with personal damage clean-up, this situation presents excellent opportunities for service projects for Scouts, schools and other groups to help with the clean-up. If you or your group is interested we certainly can use all of the help we can get and would welcome an opportunity to discuss what service you can provide and to schedule an appropriate time to utilize your assistance. Please use the form below to inquire about such opportunities.
Thank you.
John T. Bray, Ph.D.

LAWN MOWING AT A Time for Science
Mowing the 10 acres of lawns and meadows in and around A Time for Science and the Nature Conservancy involves a bit more than just running a mower through the grass. This grass is a precious resource for “Mother Nature’s” (Nancy’s radio handle) demonstration organic garden. Remember, this served as the basis for the “Edible Landscape Project” at the Ayden Boys and Girls Club. Father Time (John’s radio handle) and his assistant mow, rake and harvest this raw material for compost. All are invited to come past and see the results.
