SMT Award

On May 10, 2009, the North Carolina Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education Center recognized John and Nancy Bray with the Champions of Science, Mathematics, and Technology Education Award.  From their website:

Nancy and John Bray have devoted their lives to promoting active engagement by young people in science, mathematics, and technology activities. First as teachers, and now as passionate volunteers, countless young people have benefited from the Bray’s efforts. Mrs. Bray has been a leader in both the North Carolina Student Academy of Science (NCSAS) and the North Carolina Science and Engineering Fairs (NCSEF). Over the past few years those organizations have grown in size and quality thanks in part to her efforts. Numerous grade school students have experienced astronomy programs thanks to the portable planetarium that Dr. Bray has taken across eastern North Carolina. And together, Dr. and Mrs. Bray have made a commitment to the future of science education with their donation of land to build a science learning center.

There is also a video on their website, here, telling the story of John and Nancy and showing what they are doing environmentally and a view of the conservancy.
